When can I register for the 2010 season?
We will begin registering returning players and their siblings on Jan. 9. Registration for new participants begins April 1. Any returning player that does not register before April 1, will not receive priority placement on a roster. After April 1, rosters spots are available on a first come, first served basis.
Why is registration fee so high?
There are a tremendous number of expenses requried to bring a season of Pop Warner football and cheerleading to fruition. LMYFA is proud to provide high quality equipment for the safety of our football players. Uniforms, equipment bags, pride packs are all expenses that are incurred. Training for volunteers, officials for game days, paramedic for game days, insurance, facility rental, etc are annual expenses that add up very quickly. Anyone wishing to view our budget, may do so by speaking with a member of the Board of Directors. While there are certainly other opportunities to spend money during the seaon, the registration fee for cheer covers all necessary fees except a team fee of approximately $50. For football, the registration fee covers everything except team fee of about $30, cleats and practice pants.
Do I get to choose which team my child will be part of?
No. LMYFA's policy is that as many children as possible should be allowed to participate. This sometimes means that participants have to moved up or down a level to make this possible. Rosters are not final until sometime in August. While we would like to honor all requests, it is not always possible.
Can I choose the Pop Warner association where I want to participate?
No. You can not choose Lake Mary, Sanford, Lyman, Lake Brantley etc. Each association has a well defined zone from which we may accept players/cheerleaders. The zones are loosely based on high school zoning. Just because you have Lake Mary address does not mean you are zoned for Lake Mary. Please consult the LMYFA zone to see if you are eligible to register with LMYFA.
I tried to register with another association and they say their rosters are full. Can I register with LMYFA?
In this situation, you need to contact your zoned association and have them explain the options for you to participate elsewhere. They can provide information, guidance and necessary paperwork. Out of zone players will not be considered until the releasing organization has signed off on the participant.
My child had a physical late in 2009. Can I use this for LMYFA?
The National Pop Warner organization is very specific in regards to physicals. The physical for the 2010 season must be done in 2010. Regardless of what your physician may say about physicals being valid for one year...regardless of your insurance coverage not allowing one until after Aug. 1...there are absolutely no exceptions. Anything before January 1, 2010 will not be accepted. The physical must also be on the Pop Warner physical form found on our registration page.
I have a physical on a State of Florida physical form. Can I use this?
No. Pop Warner mandates that all physicals must be documented on the 2010 Pop Warner form.
